Dramatic scene of Dartmoor looking towards the highest peak in the West Country of Yes Tor. Â The contrast of golden, sunlit valleys against the towering purple tors creates a sense of space and isolation, accentuated by a puddle-filled track disappearing into the marshy distance.
It is float mounted and framed in dark which brings out the rich tones and colours in the painting.
Since moving from Cornwall and painting beach scenes and back to my home county of Devon, it has been a joy and inspiration to re discover the stunning beauty of the moors.

Framed painting (after David Cox), oil on canvas framed with antique style ornate moulded frame. A Homage to David Cox, one of my favourite English landscape painters of the same period as Constable and Turner, who painted in an Impressionistic style.
David Cox (29 April 1783 – 7 June 1859) English landscape painter, one of the most important members of the Birmingham School of landscape artists and an early precursor of Impressionism. He is considered one of the greatest English landscape painters, and a major figure of the Golden age of English watercolour, who turned to oils in later life.
