It was a misty morning on the moors when I saw this coo! Grazing with its herd, this coo lifted its head, almost in greeting, this moment has been translated into a painting to share its beauty.

An original painting in acrylics by a local artist. 18×14 inches this inmaginary scene is based on walks on exmoor. Autumn leaves in romantic light. No framed on artist canvas. This would look good on a bedroom wall.
The colours of cliffs in the winter light inspired this work from Cape Cornwall. Annie takes her inspiration from the works of J.M.W. Turner and more recent work by Joan Eardley. Increasingly Annie is taking risks with her paintings and developing a more dynamic style akin to David Tress.
A collection of wildflowers from the hedgerow and fields around her studio on the Somerset-Devon border inspired this little oil painting. Cornflowers, buttercups and wild grasses are simply arranged in a jam jar from Annie’s studio.
This oil painting of Gammon Head, South Devon, was made after a walk along the south-west coast path after crossing the estuary by ferry from Salcombe. The gathering clouds towards the end of the day and the resultant effect on the water add to this atmospheric painting.
In the “Blackdowns Aglow” Annie captures the richness of colour found in the landscape on a summer’s day. The pink grasses and pale green fields are illuminated by sunlight and contrast with the deep shadows from trees in the field. The Blackdown Hills are an undiscovered jewel of the Somerset landscape and provide inspiration for many of Annie’s artworks.
Exmoor Colour captures the drama of Exmoor’s landscape and skies. This view across the moor towards Wimbleball Reservoir and the hills beyond explores the boundaries between the wild moorland and the farmed landscape in the distance. Painted mostly using palette knives and rags, Annie is able to create the textures of the wild grasses and brackens.
This painting is one of a small series of works inspired by the ancient woodland of the Blackdown Hills. There are six works in total and this painting and “Evening Glow” are the last two remaining, available paintings in this series.
