ALEXANDRA LAVIZZARI
I have painted this landscape with trees in acrylics from memory of holidays I used to spend camping in the South of France near Le Lavandou, a region very dear to me.
The trees with their slender vertical trunks build a nice contrast with the horizon, but I have kept the colours in a reduced range of hues and not too intense so as not to over-emphasise this contrast and to create an impression of light. Trees are one of my favourite subjects in photography but recently I have started to include them in my paintings as well, and as to the sea, which is partly visible behind the trees, I never tire to paint it: calm or stormy, gentle or menacing, I feel the sea is a particularly rewarding creative challenge for me.
