Description
The ancient trees up on the Quantock Hills in Somerset are very special and at times, when the wind blows, slightly creepy with their old gnarled roots and their branches reaching like arms into the sky.
I have been working on this oil painting for a while, putting extra care into getting the atmosphere right of that specific spot near Triscombe which, in my opinion, sums up the eerie beauty of the Quantocks. This landscape painting of a typical autumn mood in one of the most characteristic areas of the Quantocks invites the viewer to look at the intricate growth of century old coppiced trees.
