Collage of various materials – mainly different papers, inks, petals and seeds – and all in warm red, pink and golden hues, suggesting blossoms in a vaguely Japanese style. The collage comes in a white mount and a frame of natural wood. It measures 46cm x 46cm.

With this bold piece I used a limited colour palette inspired by a gorgeous tarnished copper pipe that my son gave me (see pic) left-over from his chemistry experiment – he used it as an ion donator for plating in case you wondered.
I started with black ink mark-making on the gessoed panel to create movement to respond to. I then enjoyed creating lots of collage papers using gelli plate printing followed by cutting up and piecing together fragments of the collage and newspaper and finally drawing over it. I love this process of adding and subtracting until a balanced composition is found.
The painting is signed on the front and the surface is protected with UV safe varnish.
