Description
Autumn birches with their leaves turning golden is a classic subject for painters. In Somerset, where I live, I had plenty of opportunities of observing this magical colour transformation during my lockdown walks – and now I am drawing from my memories to recreate some of it while waiting for spring to produce its own colours.
This landscape painting is done in acrylics and Chinese inks on canvas; because of its unusual tall and narrow format it creates the impression of a window opening out onto woodland.
