Part of ongoing flower studies and exploration focussing on mark-making where I attempt to capture the essence and character of each flower and vase – like an equisite symphony but with line and marks the visual notes encapsulated.

Such a pleasure creating this piece – lots of experimenting and play whilst responding to the flowers – tuning into the essence and character of each, adding collage chunks, scratching through and drawing over to add movement.

Inspired by the all-encompassing colour, beauty, character and aroma of flowers. I aimed to capture the essence and emotion experienced – like an exquisite symphony with shape, line, colour and marks the visual notes encapsulated. Built up acrylic and ink layers were worked into with various mark-making tools to create a rich surface history – a process of addition and subtraction until a balanced composition was found.
