Spring Surprise is painted in acrylic paint and pens on a box canvas, the paint is applied with knife and limited brush work, the surface of the canvas is partly textured as part of the paint application.

Inspired by a corner of the garden where bulbs had been planted but not remembered.
I absolutely love this colourful and quirky abstract by life here in the South West of England. With my background in design and with work on wood panel, I enjoy exploring the process of adding and subtracting until a balance of composition is found. I utilise various methods of adding texture, layering and piecing together fragments through mixed media and then scraping, sanding and peeling off to discover hidden gems and create a rich surface history.
The painting is signed on the back so that the collector can decide which orientation they prefer. The surface is protected with UV safe varnish.
