Sophie is a contemporary landscape artist based in the UK specialising in acrylics and metal leaf.  Predominantly self taught, an intuitive use of sweeping brushstrokes interlaced with illuminated metallics capture the transitory nature of the near and far landscapes that move her. Big dramatic skies, mountains, coastlines and vast plains explore the concepts of both escapism and self reflection, a conflict which is central to her work. Sophie studied English Literature at university, a continued love of the romantic and gothic that is echoed in the tumultuous Wuthering Heights style emotive vistas she paints. Sophie lives and paints from her home studio near Haslemere in the North Downs
