Description
An atmospheric soft pastel painting of a typical scene on Dartmoor: a dark sky heavily weighing on a road cutting through the moor with just a few sheep grazing, a telephone pole and nothing else.
It could be anywhere on Dartmoor, but I sketched this scene near Two Bridges and Wistman’s Wood, one of my favourite spots of Dartmoor, and finished the painting at home in my studio.
The picture captures the bleakness of this iconic landscape, but I have also tried to show that it is not only dark but also breathtakingly beautiful and unique with its subtle colours of the vegetation lit by an ever changing light in the cloudy sky.
