Climbing on the Mendip Hills in Somerset England, provides a challenge. The Mendip Hills in have some of the best limestone climbing in Britain.
The picture, depicts young people taking on the challenge of a climb to the top of the cliff. The picture is of the Mendip rock face known as the Rock of Ages. According to legend it was while sheltering under this rock that Augustus Montague Toplady, (a minister of the Christian church), was inspired to write the hymn that has become so well known called ,”Rock of Ages”.
It begins Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in thee
The rock face is situated at the bottom of Burrington Gorge in Somerset
