It’s all about reflections in this soft pastel painting full of light, colours and interesting shapes. I started to paint in situ in the harbour of Penzance in Cornwall and finished it at home. I wanted to capture the evening cloud in the water and the delicate zig-zag lines of the masts and ropes of the boat to the right, as they are all differently reflected and creat near abstract patterns. The nautical theme is very much in the foreground, but the yellow-orange cloud counterbalances the hull of the boat and takes centre stage thanks to its luminosity.
The painting has a white mount and comes in a light wooden frame perfectly matching its orange-pink hues.
