Mixed media landscape painting (acrylics and various inks) of a winter snow scene with young birches set against a golden blue landscape, with a full moon and lots of snow flakes. I have used a type of rough handmade Chinese paper wich adds texture to the painting, and instead of using a mount I have put the painting directly on a white paper to allow the rough edges to be visible. The frame is of natural light wood, which perfectly matches the tones of the painting as well as reflects the material of the birches. Heavy snow always brings back cherished childhood memories in Switzerland, and I think some of my nostalgia has gone into the atmosphere of this painting. The landscape has a slightly unreal quality and invites the viewer to dream up his or her own inner landscape into it. Mainly painted in cold blue, white and gold, this winter scene in nevertheless imbued with a warm glow.
