Tamsin Stuart

Alongside art, my other passion is kickboxing and martial arts, and I'm convinced this has given me the confidence to take the plunge with my painting.

I think it also goes some way to explain way I am so preoccupied with movement in my work. I want my subjects to have a punch, a whoosh moment, a sense of energy and being alive.

Some of my favourite subjects include birds, animals, nature, water and sport, but I do like a challenge and pride myself on tackling anything that inspires me. Following a suggestion, I had a go at buildings and quite like those now too.

A former newspaper journalist, I became a full-time artist in 2018, working chiefly in acrylic, although I do like to experiment with oil and cold wax too. I'm Cheltenham based and exhibit across Gloucestershire.
