I am a self-taught painter, working in both watercolour and oils, and I teach traditional watercolour techniques. I am an eclectic painter driven by a number of factors. I am not a painter of detail, preferring to express the character and atmosphere of the scene that excites me. This might be a landscape on the Quantocks where I live, objects with a narrative connection or simply the play of light and shadow on a still life.
