Sally lives in Teignmouth, a traditional seaside town,in South Devon. She left teaching in 2000 to become a full time artist. Her love of the sea and happy memories of a seaside childhood have always been a strong influence on her work, together with many visits to Cornwall and Scilly. The effects of weather and seasons on the sea, boats and beaches are reflected in her paintings. She often chooses to paint lone fishermen in their tough little boats, sometimes with a dog for company, mizzen sails keeping them steady in the wind as they head for port. People and dogs enjoying the seaside are also an inspiration for her quirky and often humorous paintings.
Last year she took part in the "Moor Than Meets The Eye" " Granite Elements" project on Dartmoor working in and around the beautiful Yarner Wood. Her Yarner Wood experience enriched her newly found enthusiasm for printing and mixed media.
Sally has shown her work in many galleries in Devon and Cornwall in the past, but now prefers to concentrate on local projects and exhibitions, including Open Studios each September. Her paintings are owned by people all over the world and her cards can be found in shops and galleries countrywide.
