This is in a realistic abstract style that I’m a bit hooked on currently painted with predominently one of Daniel Smith’s gorgeous colours.
Inspired by the view of Wells Cathedral from the Bishops Palace garden with foliage and the lake in the foreground that runs off into channels down the High St.

I photographed the leopard on a TV wildlife programme and used the image as my composition, adding the bamboo forest. It has a black mount in a thin black frame.

‘Brr- it’s cold outside !’

This painting was inspired by the shore on the River Exe but the result lacked punch so I inserted a hut with smoke coming out of the chimney.
There’s a right old mixture of white charcoal, watercolour and gouache in this one – mebbe a touch of acrylic ………

Bowl of Oranges

Gouache on heavy locally made watercolour paper.
I made a light box and bought two bags of oranges and painted this in gouache on heavy water colour paper utilising a bowl and pots from our collection.
The frame is narrow black wood but the picture would be too small if this was included because of the wide mount – which looks great! Photo available upon request of course.

The frame is painted in Red Oxide to reflect the underpainting with the top coat in metallic gold and silver, contrasted with the matt white of the pot – took ages to complete !
