Penny McInnes Thumbprint Art
In my unique version of Thumbprint Art, the images are painted in the shape of a particular thumbprint pattern, with loops, arches, tented arches, and sometimes a mixture. This accounts for the fluidity and quirkiness of the pictures.
Some are painted in the shape of an oval, which represents the outline of the thumbprint. In others, the sides of the thumbprint are ‘cut off’ to produce a solid rectangle.
The subjects are usually local towns, villages, castles, pubs, and buildings, and the Cornish and Italian coasts, especially harbours.
The part I like best in producing a painting is putting in people, animals, vehicles and boats, as appropriate, to give life to the picture.
I am a member of the Association of British Naïve Artists.
