Maggie Micklewright has lived in the South West for over 17 years.
Her work is simply a response to weather conditions and landscape around her. She prefers to work outside in the landscape, allowing interference or adaption from weather conditions at that time. She is influenced by the Cornish coastline, especially around St Just, the Levels, coast and Moors near her home, the Quantock Hills and more recently Dartmoor. She uses acrylic and handwriting ink and also oil paint usually with a wet surface to start and often throughout the making of the piece.
A graduate from Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen (BA Hons Fine Art), she has painted mainly on a part-time basis, but exhibiting regularly in Somerset:
