I live on a just outside Falmouth in South West Cornwall with my sheep, horses, chickens, ducks, dogs on a small holding of 15 acres. I love my animals and I enjoy painting them in the landscape I see around me. Landscape painting is my passion and I paint on the spot whenever possible, I believe working from life is very important. I work in oil and watercolour but drawing is the basis of all of my work. I also like etching and enjoy the discipline involved which again comes back to drawing. I was born in Africa in 1958 and am self-taught in painting. At the moment I am studying the Newlyn School (1800 – 1950) of artists who I find very inspiring. I work fulltime at my painting selling work privately from my studio and from local galleries. I have published four sketchbooks The Cotswolds, Venice, Cornwall and Lesley Holmes A Sketchbook. Illustrative work includes the three James Herriot books (Michael Joseph) and various card companies.
