I attended a pottery evening class at Farnham Art College from 1978 for almost five years with the fantastic teacher, Katrina Evangeligou, who taught to degree level.
Katrina had exceptionally high standards and so I would sometimes go home with tears from one of her lessons, fearing my skill as a potter would never meet her standards; I now realise she was just making me the best potter I could be as I can now make a wide variety of everyday objects from cups, plates and bowls to birdbaths and small sculptures.
By 1983 I decided to move to Devon, where I began attending another evening class. When that closed down we all followed the equipment to Alphington and formed a community potting together and sharing the cost, glazes and companionship.
The Alphington Potters have existed for over 20 years.
I set up my own studio in May 2013, I have been selling my work ar craft fairs and promoting myself and my work, both locally and nationally and on websites such as Etsy and Folksy.
I am a member West Country potters and Mid Devon Crafts Guild.
I aim to make something that you’ll enjoy using as much as I enjoyed making.
