Joanna Commings

I am an artist living in Wellington, Somerset, working on landscapes mainly in acrylics on canvas. My style is best described perhaps as abstract impressionist and I seek to represent atmosphere in my paintings, a feeling of what it is like to be there in that light, that season, on that day. I sketch and take photos out in the countryside and then return to my studio to work up the paintings. I am inspired by the natural landscape and particularly by water - whether moving, as in the sea, or the stillness of a canal.
