Joan Scott

Joan’s work is inspired by recollections of the local countryside and coast. To her, drawing is an important creative skill - sometimes the results are used as a basis for painting.  Joan’s love of colour and texture is evident in her mixed media paintings as well as the abstract and semi-abstract compositions she creates with acrylic on canvas. Joan uses collage to create something new, not seen before.  She is trying to translate memories of past experiences into visual form and lets the painting lead the way so its creation becomes a journey of discovery until the final image emerges

Joan studied Fine Arts at the Arts Institute, Bournemouth (now AUB). She was the winner of the CADarts Open Exhibition, and has had paintings selected for Exhibitions at the Mall Galleries, London (Discerning Eye and Society of Women Artists). Recently her work has been selected for open exhibitions at Southampton City Art Gallery, the St Barbe at Lymington and Mottisfont Abbey, Romsey.

Her work is in private collections around the world.

In1983 Joan moved from Yorkshire to live in Dorset. She is a keen Rambler and has walked extensively around Dorset, Hampshire and parts of Wiltshire since 1996. She has also been a member of Bournemouth Arts Club since 1996 and served as Chair for 5 years.
