Jackie Gale is a contemporary textile artist living and working in the South Hams, Devon.
Originally from the Midlands, Jackie is best known for her illustrative work which is filled with colour and light - sometimes with witty references, such as her sassy drinks pieces, and sometimes showcasing her unique take on the natural world, such as her vibrant florals and uplifting sea scenes…
Every day Jackie’s imagination is sparked by her surroundings; the intricacies and textures of nature, the diversity of people, the beauty that the ageing process brings.
‘I translate what I see and feel into my art.  Art is subjective and people often resonate with an image for a number of reasons. I am always fascinated by the viewer’s perspective and how they often see something so entirely different to what I see. For me, art is an experience. Ultimately, I love to draw a viewer into a piece, where they can travel around, ponder, escape, enjoy.
Jackie exhibits her work across the country and has gallery representation in the Southwest. In 2015, she was awarded ‘Best Up and Coming Artist’ by the Guild Of Fine Artists.
Her works are held in private collections in the UK and overseas.

As well as fresh budding  and unfurling baby ferns, there is a beautiful piece of burr oak which makes a wonderful home to a sycamore butterly and an ammonite snail. These beautiful creatures were created by Devon wood artist, Andre Daniel. A collaboration that worked perfectly.  The wood sculptures bring this piece to life and add so much dimension.  Spring has so much texture as well as colour and this is what we aimed to capture with this work.

Whisky Galore By Jackie Gale

Brunel’s Bridge (Original) By Jackie Gale
£1,500.00An iconic image of the Southwest. I decided to get all nostalgic and featured a steam train as I love steam trains and occasionally steam trains do travel on this beautiful bridge. The colourful houses in the background represent the Cornish town of Saltash.
This is an original textile artwork, glazed in conservation glass for UV protection and to enable the textile work to be fully appreciated without reflection.

Polzeath By Jackie Gale
£125.00Polzeath is one of Cornwall’s finest surfing resorts. This textile art print not only showcases the surf but also the beautiful coastal path that is enjoyed by so many.  Pentire Head is in the distance and I’m sure many Cornwall lovers would have walked the coast path many times. Many of the wild flowers in the forefront are embellished with pearls and I’ve also used flakes of Cornish slate from the area itself.
