Alan Overton

I paint mainly in acrylics. My preferred subjects are street scenes, and interiors of cafés, and my local theatre, where I am an amateur actor. My main inspiration is the effects of light and shade, with an interest in pattern, shape, design and structure. Over the years my paintings have simplified to some degree, with less emphasis on detail, and more on shape and pattern.
I have exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions, the Royal West of England Academy, Bath Society of Artists, Frome Art Society, and many other open exhibitions. Four of my paintings are in Lord Bath's 'WESSEX Artists Collection' at Longleat House.
