Woodland Light is a pastel painting on PastelMat card, depicting autumn trees and a stream; measuring 35 x 25 cm; by Christine Derrick in Somerset.
Description
Woodland scene with slow-running stream, encountered on one of many countryside walks. The air is catching pale golden light from a weak afternoon sun shining on the tree canopy. The work is in soft pastel on artist-grade PastelMat card, measuring 14 x 10 inches (35x25cm approx). The style of work is detailed in the trees and foreground but looser and impressionistic elsewhere.
The picture will be protected with glassine paper and other card, plus rigidly taped boards which prevent slippage of the work during transit. The whole is packaged in either a stout wrap-around mailer or a box. It is recommended (as for all pastels) that the work is framed to include a mountboard and under glass for full protection.
I choose high-quality artist-grade pastels for many of my pictures, the colours remain clear and vibrant because they are not mixed with any wet mediums.
