Description
“The Distant Fields” was inspired by Annie’s walks on and around Exmoor. This wild landscape offers a contrast between the bracken and gorse in the foreground and the managed landscape of farmland towards the horizon. As the light changes quickly, sudden breaks in the cloud allow the distant fields to be illuminated. This impressionist painting takes its inspiration from the works of J.M.W. Turner and more recent work by Joan Eardley. Increasingly Annie is taking risks with her paintings and developing a more dynamic style akin to David Tress. Painted primarily using a palette knife and rags, Annie is able to imply and infer the textures of the landscape with deft strokes and mark making.
This oil painting is 29.5 cm x 21 cm x 3.5 cm, painted on a deep box canvas and available unframed.
