Lundy Skies; Above the Old Lighthouse

Original oil painting on specialist oilpaper, by Christine Derrick in Somerset; featuring anvil cloud skies above Lundy moorland

By: Christine Derrick

Original oil painting on specialist Arches oil-paper, measuring 10 x 7 inches (25 x 17cm approx). Unframed.

Lundy’s isolated position in the Bristol Channel provides for wide-sweeping skies, plus cloud formations of just about every kind imaginable. In this scene we are looking across open grassland toward the very old lighthouse on the horizon; above it a large anvil cloud with sunlit edges and a dark base, threatening rain. The cloud has been deliberately made centre of attention in this small painting, in order to express its heaviness. Below, at ground level, lightly textured paint applied with a painting knife creates the moorland grass.

The work will be sent flat, protected between board/papers; it can be framed under glass and mountboard in the same way as any other work on paper. Price includes UK delivery.
