Thomas Hardy’s birthplace Thorncombe woods, Bockhampton. Rushy Pond is also popularly believed to be the setting for his famous poem ‘Neutral Tones’.  It is also part of Egdon Heath – the setting mentioned in ‘The Return of the Native’.
