Blackdowns Aglow by Annie Musgrove

£250.00

In the “Blackdowns Aglow” Annie captures the richness of colour found in the landscape on a summer’s day. The pink grasses and pale green fields are illuminated by sunlight and contrast with the deep shadows from trees in the field. The Blackdown Hills are an undiscovered jewel of the Somerset landscape and provide inspiration for many of Annie’s artworks.

Description

The Blackdown Hills in Somerset are an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and little visited by tourists. Annie enjoys exploring the footpaths here which wind across fields and through ancient woodlands.  Annie takes her inspiration from this view of pinky coloured grasses and the light green of fields beyond, illuminated by sunlight on a summer’s day.  Annie paints mostly using palette knives and rags and  consequently achieves a variety of textures and mark making to suggest details in the landscape. This impressionist painting is loosely painted and yet from a viewing distance appears more figurative.

Blackdowns Aglow is painted on an unframed box canvas 40 x 40 cm.
