  • Sale! Available during the summer months, the sensual peony has long been used in feng shui as a cure for love and romance. To attract long-lasting love into your life, consider placing pink peonies in the home. Experts caution however, that peonies should be kept in the living room to promote attraction and romantic love, as peonies in the bedroom symbolize carnal lust (particularly red peonies). It is even rumoured that an image of a flowering peony in an older couple’s bedroom should be avoided to prevent affairs with younger women.

  • A PAUSE IN HISTORY BY LISA PARKYN

    £500.00

Created as part of ‘Delving Beneath Series’ – a body of work started during 2020 pandemic lockdown, which has helped me make sense of the shifts going on around the world and reflect on what is meaningful in life.

I tapped into my love for the unique textures that occur in nature, on weathered walls, old billboards and rusting metal – the scars of time, symbolising memories and keepsakes.

Exploring the process of adding and subtracting until a balance is found. Using various methods of layering and piecing together fragments through mixed media and then scraping, sanding and peeling off – metaphorically delving deeper to discover what lies beneath and our hidden strengths.

    Framed size 35 x 35cm
    Image size 30.5 x 30.5cm
Acrylic and mixed media on wood panel.
Ready to hang in an off-white tray frame.
The painting is initialed on the front, signed on the back and the surface is protected with UV safe varnish.

  • TRACES OF TIME BY LISA PARKYN

    £500.00

Created as part of my new body of work started at the beginning of lockdown March 2020, which has helped me make sense of the shifts going on around the world and reflect on what is meaningful in life.

Using various methods of layering, piecing together fragments through mixed media and scraping, sanding and peeling off – metaphorically delving deeper to discover what lies beneath and our own hidden strengths. I have also added fossil transfers and tapped into my love for the unique textures that occur on weathered walls, old billboards and rusting metal, showing the scars of time. Exploring the process of adding and subtracting – painting layers, mark-making and glueing pieces on and then gouging and scraping off until a balance is found.

  • UNDER THE MIRROR BY LISA PARKYN

    £3,000.00

So often we have to hold it together, grit teeth, keep calm and carry on. This painting reminds me of the contained chaos we have to hold at times and of what really goes on under the calm surface. Created during the pandemic with built up layers on panel – shapes, colours and textures inspired by the exquisite surrounding landscape here in Devon, UK. I love the raw, expressionistic feel of this piece. Part of an ongoing series looking at ways we cope with stress and trauma and how it manifests in our mind and body.

    Image size 85 x 94cm
Acrylic, graphite, pastel and china markers on wood panel.
    Modern, unframed cradled panel.
    Ready to hang with wire.

The painting is signed on the front and the surface is protected with UV safe varnish.

  • TEASE OUT THE TANGLE BY LISA PARKYN

    £2,500.00

Created as the UK emerged from the pandemic lock-down, I loved working on this colourful piece! It forms part of an ongoing series looking at how we process and make sense of the jumble of information that we soak up during challenging times – the facts and figures from the media and all kinds of opinions from social media and the resulting emotions. It is a challenge to make sense of the madness at times. I tried not to take myself too seriously – here choosing to express some of the quirky beauty that nature and life has to offer.

Ready to hang in an oak-stained frame.

    Framed size 62 x 87cm
    Image size 59 x 84cm

Acrylic and mixed media on canvas board.

The painting is signed on the front and the surface is protected with UV safe varnish.

  • POEMS FOR THE SOUL BY LISA PARKYN

Created as the UK emerged from the pandemic lock-down, this painting is all about how we rebuild ourselves and what we choose to keep – the beauty of nature, laughter, friendship, love and generosity, and how we take that forward. It forms part of an ongoing series looking at how we process and make sense of the jumble of information that we soak up during challenging times – the facts and figures from the media and all kinds of opinions from social media and the resulting emotions.
