ARTIST OF THE WEEK CHRIS NEAVES
Chris Neave’s “Miro’s Colmer’s”
Chris Neaves is a Bridport based artist. In addition to selling his work through London and West Country galleries, he has his own cloud9studio in Bridport where he exhibits his work.
We asked him three questions regarding his work.
What was your inspiration for your acrylic painting ‘Miro’s Colmer’s 1’?
Being a lover of Joan Miro’s work, I thought to reflect his ‘visually’ minimalistic style to portray Bridport’s iconic Colmer’s Hill.
Balance
Balance’ is an intriguing abstract painting. Can you explain more about this work from its conception to completion?
‘Balance’ is the result of a challenge to create a painting that, in theory, can be hung from whichever of the four sides and still be pleasing to the eye.
Harvest Time
You create work in a variety of styles. Can you explain further about these styles and tell us more about your mixed media painting ‘Harvest Time’?
I tend to concentrate on a particular style for a series of works but then need to change tack and try something different to keep myself stimulated. The use of corrugated card and bamboo have created a unique piece in ‘Harvest’.
